Role Purpose

  • Incident management of events & incidents through the event/incident lifecycle.
  • Manage, maintain, support, and improve the Maersk IT Support, Operations, and Engineering department’s ability to respond to incidents across the entirety of the IT Infrastructure estate.
  • Undertake root cause analysis of incidents and follow up through the Problem Management processes to ensure identified remedial actions are undertaken to prevent further reoccurrence.
  • Oversee and drive the diagnosis, root cause, and fix of infrastructure incidents.
  • Monitor, prioritise, and classify events and decide on the appropriate course of action.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Actively monitor the health of critical business processes using existing monitoring tools and dashboards.
  • Collaborate with/suggest enhancements to teams and stakeholders to ensure the timely resolution of all high priority faults and incidents.
  • Serve as an Incident Management escalation point when called upon.

Experience Required

  • Previous experience of L1 event management in Application Support, O/S, Database, and Middleware technology platforms.
  • Experience with one or more of the following tools: Riverbed, SCOM, Oracle Enterprise Manager, SolarWinds, or ServiceNow.
  • Hands-on experience with event and batch processing as well as typical trigger/error handling set up with various technologies and helpdesks.

Candidate Competencies / Essential Characteristics

  • Excellent understanding of Event Management and Monitoring.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, /UDP, and general understanding of Networking (WAN / LAN / Firewall).
  • Good understanding of Application Architectures.
  • Broad knowledge of IT Operations in an enterprise environment.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft technologies; e.g. Active Directory, Windows Server, Hyper V, Exchange, O365, SQL Server, Microsoft Dynamics, IIS, and web hosting.
